What are Permanent Lash Extensions?
The lash extensions used by Amy-Jean are man made synthetic fibres that provide a natural look and feel. They are curved and sized to look as if they were your own.
Are they safe and can they damage my natural lashes?
Yes, they are safe! They will not damage your natural lashes at all. Natural human lashes are shedding all the time, just as new lashes are being re-generated. An average lash cycle is 6 weeks. New lashes will always grow back to replace the ones that have fallen out! The procedure is pain-free and will not harm your eyelids or natural lashes. Lashes are never applied directly to your eyelids.
How are the Lashes applied?
You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed. Amy-Jean applies each artificial lash to your individual natural eyelash. Yes, one lash at a time. Using a safe, medical grade bonding agent.
How do I prepare for my procedure?
Do not curl your lashes or wear any mascara. Thoroughly cleanse your lashes with mild, water based cleanser. Eyelids and lashes must be completely clean and dry.
How long do the Lashes last?
Lashes last up to 6 weeks with touch ups done every 2 to 4 weeks. A natural lash will typically fall out every 4-6 weeks and is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. At any given moment, each of your natural eyelashes is at a different stage of its life cycle. Infills will replace the lashes that have fallen out and false eyelashes will be bonded to new growth of eyelashes since your last appointment. .
Can I apply mascara or make-up??
One of the primary advantages of permanent Lash Extensions is that you won’t need mascara. However if you want to wear mascara ask Amy-Jean about her specially formulated mascara made specifically for eyelash extensions. Do not use waterproof mascara.
How do I care for my Lashes?
LASH EXTENSION PREP
· Do not wear mascara on the day of having your lashes applied.
· Ensure the lashes are well cleansed and any mascara remnants are removed
· Lash tint can be done 24 hours prior to extensions but not on the same day.
AFTER EXTENSIONS
· Avoid direct water, steam, sauna or showers onto your lashes for the first 24
hours
· Do not put your face directly into the shower stream
· Never wear "waterproof" mascara with eyelash extensions. If you do chose to
wear mascara, ensure it is water based mascara and only glide it through the
ends of the extensions (not through the glue at the roots).
· Avoid excessive rubbing of the eyes and sleeping face down into a pillow.
· Do not use an eyelash curler, perm or tint the extensions.
· Use oil free eye makeup remover. Chose a cleanser that is a foam soap base that
lathers in the fingertips first. (We recommend Dermalogica soothing eye make-up
remover). Wet the eyes, cleanse the lashes by clamping (but not pulling) on the
extensions and then splash away with water. Pat dry with a face towel.
· Never cleanse with cotton squares or face wipes as the fibers get caught into the
glue and can look like lint sitting on them.
· If you don't wear mascara don't cleanse the extensions, just cleanse around them
· Remember, the less you touch them the longer they will last you!
· For maintenance, schedule a touch up or refill every 2-4 weeks.
A Lash Extension refill will normally take around 30-45 minutes.
